For those of you that are personal friends and have seen me gabbing about MOPS on Facebook – yeah, sorry. I’m beating the dead horse over the head.
For those of you who don’t know me personally, I had to share with you a little more about the wonderful organization of MOPS.
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers and is an organization meant to encourage, unite and mentor young mom’s while giving them a little breather from their children (who are taken care of by the Moppets program – activities, crafts, play time and of course, Zeek’s favorite, snacks!) and a time to refresh.
While your kids are enjoying the Moppets program, you get to enjoy a little bit of kid-free time surrounded by other mom’s in your same walk of life, as well as a handful of wonderfully experienced Mentor Moms. Delicious breakfast, socializing with other moms, an encouraging and informative speaker on a wide range of topics from installing car seats properly to connecting and still making time for your husband. Two hours of mom-time can really leave a girl feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of the week! I cannot say enough of the friendships I have made through MOPS and the encouragement I received when I so badly needed it (um, remember how Asher used to not sleep? I attribute being able to make it through that rough year with support of my amazing MOPS mom friends and Mentor Moms who would just HOLD Asher for me, even if he was crying and fussy). I have been a part of MOPS (both the one in Silverton and now the one in Salem (CSCC – Court Street Christian Church) since Zeek was 1 year old – and only WISH I had heard of it sooner because I would’ve joined when I was pregnant with him!
MOPS also plans monthly Moms Night Out’s (MNO’s) that have been as quiet and lovely as cookie exchanges and game or movie nights to as crazy and fun as doing a ropes course, or doing a bowling date night.

Our MOPS group starts this coming Tuesday, Sept. 16th and goes from 9-11 am. We meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month.
